Would you rather stay on the beach or stay close to the wedding site? My Fiance and I are going back and forth on what hotel to block out for the wedding and we just aren’t sure. I’m more for blocking out a hotel that is just a few blocks away from our venue, while he is more for the idea of a beach hotel.
Most Out of Town guests are coming from the Midwest, do you think they would prefer the beach or being close to the venue in a town they don’t know?

How far is the beach to the wedding venue vs. the closer hotel? If the difference isn’t much, I’d vote for the beach. Chances are they’re staying there for longer than the wedding day. So they may want to stay where there will be more vacation-y stuff to do before and after the wedding.

I’d set up both and let your guests choose. At many hotels there is no cost to you to set up a block, so why not do more than one. I voted beach, because what’s the point of traveling to coastal Florida to not see the beach. Any chance you could provide a bus or shuttle to the wedding for those staying at the beach hotel?

I’m a Florida girl and I voted beach because when we went to FSIL’s wedding in Myrtle Beach last year several family members stayed at the resort on the beach, but we chose to stay in a resort that was about 8 miles away and not directly on the beach. While we absolutely loved where we stayed and didn’t mind the distance at all the only thing that was missing was having the convienence of being at the ocean whenever we felt like it.

10 miles really isnt that far to get to the wedding location. Especially if its off a main road. You could just make sure that people had the numbers for several cab companies in the area or talk to a hotel by the beach to see if they would provide a group shuttle.

If you can set up both, that’d be best. I know it didn’t cost us anything to do ours! If not, I vote beach because it makes into more of a vay-cay for them.

@ebs is right…I think it depends but it didn’t cost us anything to block off! I also would pick beach, but some ppl do love the convience factor 🙂

I picked the beach. If I were coming from the midwest I would want to take advantage of the beautiful location. Ten miles to the venue is no big deal.
