….ive got to be honest, im pretty glad shes left after a week long stay!!
my fi was at work with really long hours so it was just me and her. and the constant pressure of “ahhh i need to say something. what can i say in spanish that makes sense and isnt completely random” started to get to me. the language barrier meant conversation was sketchy…and to be honest not very interesting. but i have ver limited vocab!
i think i got Mother-In-Law brownie points by going to the pharmacy to buy her medicine when she had stomach problems and fi was working late, but still…conversation didnt flow as much as i wanted it to and im kind of worried i starved her. i asked many times if she wanted food and she said because of her stomach problems/gastritis she only watned a piece of fruit. now of course im wondering if she was being polite
also im second guessing whether we should have done more activities, but to be fair she was staying here as she fell down the stairs and Future Father-In-Law was away so i assumed she was too injured to want to do anything strenuous. hope im right! i had to work two afternoons so felt a bit guilty leaving her but couldnt get out of it
only thing i think i lost brownie points on was a pointblank refusal to try the “chapulines” she brought (dried crickets/grasshoppers, local delicacy down in the south of mexico where she travelled last week) just couldnt do it!!
im just overthinking the week and wondering if i could have done more in some way
