Soo…I was in big denial about the economy even though I watched my wedding budget dwindle over the past year. I thought since I started so early saving and planning everything would go off without a hitch and I would be able to relax stress free these next few months. I am looking at calling the whole thing off. I have a venue I booked over a year ago that is not holding up thier end of the bargain and so I"m looking for a new venue (any suggestions would be greatly appreciated). I have not sent save the dates or ordered invitations and I’m starting to not like my dress anymore! LOL. I’m a mess. So, if you feel like helping. Please send me recommendations for photographers, florists, and venues in Houston, Texas that are willing to work with a bride on a recession budget.

I am so sorry to hear that things are falling to pieces (or crumbs) on you! I think we all go through a period where the stress of planning a wedding casts a shadow over the joy of a marriage. Hopefully you will be able to get some suggestions here that will help you out.
My fiance and I first considered getting married in Houston (our home town), so I looked at a few places. What actually were the best options for venues for us were houses of worship (where one of you attend if possible, otherwise ask people you know, or some will even let you get married there with their minister without requiring that you be a member or sponsored).
We found that some of the grocery store florists – we’re partial to Randall’s – were the most affordable and yet very talented. Because they are paid hourly and have set work hours, they always had time to sit down and go over options that could be achieved within our budget and did not pressure us at all. In fact, we told one florist that we could not use her, but we needed ideas and she gave us a bunch of books and pointed us to a table in the coffee bar area, telling us to return the books when we were done looking at them.
I don’t really have any advice on photographers though. We were going to have a family friend from out of town do the photos as his gift to us.

I have to recommend Kris Evans Photography. Kris lives in Tomball, and she does weddings and her prices are very good (although I know she changed pricing structure for 2009 and I haven’t looked to see what the new numbers are…). Check out her website or blog.
Good luck with the planning…I hope everything starts to go better for you! The money thing is a big issue for a lot of us, so don’t feel like you’re alone!
