That is really horrible too, rsulli.  What is wrong with people?  Can’t these kind of things be saved for bachelor/ette parties or showers?

Yes, those types of things SHOULD DEFINITELY be at Bachelor/ette parties or showers NOT WEDDING RECEPTIONS.  Well, when it comes down to it,  It is really the ceremony and the love we have for each other that really counts.

wow, they sound like a bunch of rednecks.  I guess the best you can do is laugh it off, and it sounds like you handled it pretty well.

That is truly heinous behavior! I am in shock! It sounds like you handled it with grace.  I’m glad you are able to laugh about it now 🙂

This is horrendous.

The way to make the best of it in three steps:

1,  Give it a couple of years.

2.  Write a memoir about this insane family.

3.  Retire early.

My FI’s family (being similar to your new husband’s family) is part of the reason I canceled my hall venue and cut the wedding guest list to 22. SO I HEAR YA ! Just remember, “you are better then them !”

And from what circus did you say these folks are from? You have sympathies and est wishes for the strength to deal with these people in the future!

I don’t think you are being silly at all. But I am sure your guests will also remember your grace under pressure. AND how beautiful you looked! What is done is done, try to let go and focus on the joyful parts of your wedding!

WOW… WTF!  I would be soooo pissed (and I’m a pretty easy-going gal)!!  I’m so sorry about your 1st dance… but I’m sure your photographer captured some wonderful shots before the debauchery began.  Now… what to do about those in-laws of yours– YIKES!  I would avoid them like the plague, lol!

I’m with bluespurrs – I bet what the guests will remember the most is how you behaved so graciously about their juvenile behaviour. Not a bad thing to have people thinking. 🙂

That’s awful!  I was thinking “what could be worse than a penis balloon animal?”  Then I read the first dance story.  Awful.  You looked beautiful (if a little stunned) in the pic above.

Oh. my. lord. You are so awesome for keeping your cool. I would have been like, “GO AWAY!” That is ridiculous.

I wondered if this was a joke until i saw the pics! It sounds too crazy to be true! It sounds like you handled it well. And if your husband ever asks if you want to go do something with his family all you have to say is “remember the wedding!” You now have an excuse to never show up to his family reunions! 😉
