I wanted to give an opposing opinion to those I’ve read here on the Asha stone.
I had told my Fiance to get me a synthetic diamond or a used diamond from eBay, Craigslist, or a pond shop. He insisted on the real thing and he worked directly with a diamond dealer. It is stunning and perfect. I love it BUT it’s so stressful having it. I do not like the responsibility of wearing such an expensive material possession. The diamond sits above the prongs and the prongs itself is so delicate; I’m afraid of losing the stone. I ended up buying an Asha as my everyday wear (even though I am opposed to the idea of having anything stored).
Please forgive to those I offend when indicating the cost of each piece… I am only stating for comparison sake. I also apologize in advance as I know so many readers love their Asha stone and it’s because of the photos I’ve seen here that purchased one. Rings are all size 5:
Bottom ring: diamond, 2.03 carats, modified cushion, flawless, platinum, diamond dealer, $40k
Middle ring: Asha, 2.50 carats, modern cushion, palladium, AshaDiamonds.com, under $700
Top ring: CZ, 2.68 carats, asscher, sterling silver, Etsy $100
The Asha looks amazing in certain lighting (elevators, at my desk, direct sun) but in most conditions, it is dull, glassy, and gray. I purchased it with the stone set in a low profile solitaire. I love the setting and the metal. In person, the palladium looks just like the platinum though lighter in weight. The Asha does not compare to a real diamond in my case. Having said that, I can’t justify the cost of what my Fiance paid.
(The CZ… forget about it… it’s a fun ring but the stone is too big and looks glassy. Also, as an aside and FYI… size 5 from AshaDiamonds fits like a 5.25.)
I can post a few more pictures for those interested in the Asha. If you’re on the fence about purchasing one, I would suggest buying a loose stone. Don’t get me wrong, the stone is pretty, it just isn’t a replica of a real diamond. The sad ending to this story is that our engagement is unraveling so I will probably give this ring back. If I get engaged again, I will insist on a Moissanite!
