I’m taking my Fiance to Asheville for the weekend to get away and celebrate his birthday. The goal is to relax, eat good food, go for a hike, and drink a lot of booze. Here’s the plan:
Saturday: We’re driving up early and we’re going to go to lunch at Early Girl, do the Highland Brewery Tour and then do dinner at either Laughing Seed or Mamacita’s (depending on what he feels like having).
Sunday: I want to go hiking in the area. Was looking at Chimney Rock or Looking Glass (Recommendations??). Thought we’d grab some beer at Green Man brewing or go to a wine bar and then go to dinner at Tupelo Honey.
Monday: Massage in the AM at Sensibilities and lunch at Rosetta’s or Laughing Seed. Head home.
Any other recommendations on things to do or places to eat??
Thanks so much!!!!

Chimney Rock definitely. Beautiful views and worth the hike. There’s a great fried chicken place in an old two story house across the street from the park. It’s also near Lake Lure where Dirty Dancing was filmed. 😉

@beachbride1216: Food wise I’m a veggie, but he’ll eat meat sometimes when we go out, so I’m trying to find places with a good amount of both. I’m trying not to freak out about the Dirty Dancing thing- totally my favorite movie of all time!!!!!

Anyone else have suggestions of places to visit while in town??

@caits615: It’s really (really, really) pricey, but the Biltmore Estate is neat to tour and they have a winery. The house is very impressive and if you take the winery tour there is wine tasting after. You can save a little bit if you buy the admission ticket in advance.

Ah, I love Asheville. The mount Pisgah trail is really fun. Like a PP mentioned the Biltmore estate is expensive, but it is so awesome. If you can spare the money it is a must see.
I just realized I’ve never eaten out there while on vacation (weird) so I can’t help in that department. Hope fully some other posters have some insight on that.
