I think most Asians who are here are used to western culture. Typical asian women doesn’t have e-rings or if they do, it’s usually just very small. I’m married to an American, and my .71 center stone is considered big. I was actually surprised on how big it looked after it was set.

PP: Yes, that is so true. I just posted on the thread about huge rings, because it was so stunning to me that women had such blingy rings. Mine is a .67, not exceptionally big but people have commented on the size. Also in line with the less-blingy rings, I got quite a lot of disapproving looks when people found out that I ordered a full eternity.

Asian (Mien) American here.  My fiancé, who’s also Mien, proposed to me with this Tacori ering.  Most if any Asian countries do not have the custom of giving an engagement ring.  Only some younger generations have adopted the western custom.  Also, 24k yellow gold is very big among most Asians.  In my culture the groom’s family, usually the mother, gives the bride pure silver cuff bracelets which usually have a diamond cut design.  These are to be worn on the wedding day, and can be given to my own future daughter-in-law.  My future Mother-In-Law gave me two upon our formal engagement, where a bride price is also determined.  I know, it sounds archaic, but my fiance and I only go along with our culture’s marriage customs out of respect for our parents 🙂

I agree with the other PPs that in Asia, an engagement ring isn’t part of the custom.

Canadian Chinese.  Just got my set appraised for house insurance.  Please excuse my huge file.. I don’t know how to shrink the size

I think in Asia, huge carat are just not practical in their everyday life. I won’t feel comfortable wearing my e-ring in a huge city and not driving in my own car. Most of my friends in Asia usually wear 0.5 to 0.70 but with super good quality diamond..

Engagement Ring :18K, pave setting, 1.02 Carat, F color, VS2, 3EX. Side stones total weight is 0.22 carat, G color, SI1

Wedding Band: Shared prong, total carat weight is 0.48. VVS, F color, very good cut. Platinum
