Hmn.. perhaps it ain’t higher than the sky though.. 🙂 I can think of 2 ways:

  1. Hang large  or extra large paper lanterns, that’s 48 to 60 inch paper lanterns, halfway from the ceiling;
  2. Create the look of a lowered ceiling (cheaper option, i guess; the view of the lanterns is easier to capture in pictures; great if you love the cloud-like look or using paper lanterns as both lights and decor.

If your wedding venue won’t allow the use of hangers or nails on the walls, then perhaps we can look to the idea of hanging lanterns outdoors for inspiration, i.e., using vertical posts, which you can “plant” on a large jar. You can then hang your lanterns from string lights i would recommend the custom-length lantern string lights with drop for the simplest solution, like AsianIdeas.com’s C7 custom spacing light kits, apparently it can even let you mix-and-match lanterns of different shapes and sizes on a string. http://www.asianideas.com/c7customspacinglightkits.html… Good luck.. =)

@virgomasala80:  Is that your reception venue. I actually think its beautiful the way it is and not even sure if the lanterns would look good in that room. Its beautiful just as it is with the chandeliers!!

@virgomasala80:  WOW well I can see why you are in love with them after that pic but that looks like a TON of work!

I do think its beautiful thou…..WOWZA…..but those ceilings look way higher than your venue and the ceiling is more industrial looking. That wouldn’t have the same effect in your venue

@virgomasala80:  Well since you can’t hang them from the ceiling have you thought about using them for centerpieces since you really like them!

@virgomasala80:  Oh, my! That’s already a very beautiful ceiling, though. I’ve read around about brides using tall shepherd’s hook for hanging lanterns. But, wow, with that beautiful ceiling, i think the picture with the purple lanterns will work so well for your stage backdrop. It seems that will do with two (2) tall shepherd’s hook (like 7-foot tall), then you tie a nylon string in-between to hold the lanterns, and S-hook for hanging lanterns vertically. Asian centerpieces to match also would work great. ;>
