Unless you attach it to a stiff solid backing you’re probably going to have problems.  First of all, it won’t sit flat on the grass so it will look all wavy and uneven.  Second of all you’re right to worry about the tearing of the lace being uneven and with all the ‘holes’ already in it your heels and pretty much anything else will catch and tear holes in it.  Third unless you stake the heck out of it (and even then) it will tear and bunch.

LadyPeacockk:  Its to pretty, and delicate, I would be a little hesitant to have people walk on it, might snag on their heels and things and bunch up….any way you could make, like….an aisle border with it?  And have the lace running the sides of the aisle so as not to get walked on?

Lace or sheer runners would be an accident waiting to happen. Even most runner manufacturers do not recommend they be used on grass.

If you want that look, you could attach the fabric of your choice with spray adhesive to a sturdier backing, like canvas or a grass matting.

We’re renting a multi-piece wood aisle runner, and it looks great! It’s expensive as hell though. It’s worth it for us because our flower girl is in a wheel chair, and it’ll make it much easier for her.

I think petals directly on the grass is going to be your easiest (and safest) option. Plus, the petals with the green peeking through will look so beautiful.

Would you please tell me where you rented the multi-piece wood aisle runner from?  I’m having a hard time finding that.  Thank you.

Vortelt:  From the company we rented our ceremony chairs from; I have no idea what they were called and can’t look it up right now but they were in San Francisco
