I’ve been asked to photograph a friend’s wedding in a few months and I agreed. I’m an amateur photographer but the couple knows that I have limited experience and they seem to be okay with that. Cheaping out on photography is not something that I would have done but hey, it’s not my wedding. I figure I’ll try my hardest and hope for the best. I plan to practice as much as possible up until the wedding so that I can hopefully capture some nice shots for them.
Anyway, I’d like to purchase a new lens to use at the event. I have a Canon Rebel t4i that I primarily use with an 18-135mm STM lens. I also have a 40mm STM pancake lens that I haven’t used very often but it takes great pictures. I’m not in a position to spend a fortune on the new lens since I don’t even know if I’m being paid for this shindig but I figure I’ll always have it to use in the future so I can probably justify the cost.
Pro/Experienced photogs, is there a particular lens that you find yourselves using the most at the weddings that you shoot? Since I am an amateur, I really do not need a $1,500 lens sitting around. At most, I’m looking to spend around $800 tops.
