- Wedding: October 2013
Alright ladies, quick back story. Yesterday, I asked my best friend of 17 years to step down as a bridesmaid. Before you attack, hear me out. I know this has ruined the friendship, but honestly we haven’t truly been friends ever since I had the audacity to get engaged to a wonderful, loving man who she happens not to like.
She has flat out told me that she is not supportive of the relationship, that he has “stolen the light of Jesus from me” (he is an atheist and I recently left the church of my own accord) and that she is not choosing her Bridesmaid or Best Man dress (that I have offered to pay for) until August…and the wedding is October 5.
So yeah, I asked her to step down. But now I want to ask my Future Sister-In-Law. This is not an “I want our parties to look equal so I need another person” situation. It’s a “when Fiance & I got engaged I didn’t know Future Sister-In-Law at all, but since then we have gotten quite close and I truly want her up there” situation.
Any advice on how to ask without making her seem like an afterthought?
