I’m DIYing our centerpieces and decorations and plan to use a variety of glassware (votive holders, milk bottles, vases, etc) for something like this:
What do you think of having my bridesmaids include a cute note in with the bridal shower invite that says that if you have any unwanted glassware, to bring it with you and the bride would love to repurpose it and include it in her special day? Is it tacky or cute? Most everyone invited knows I love to craft and upcycle.

I think that’s cute, especially if your guests know you love to craft. I think they would love to see a piece that they gave you re-purposed and used at your wedding.

You should do it! If a friend of mine put that on her invite, I would be happy to help. I borrowed some glassware from friends and family and it was not a problem.

Sounds fine to me, so long as it is phrased cutely and politely and not “BRING YOUR GLASSES OR DIE!!!!” I love to craft and I would be more than willing to bring my unwanted glassware to a friend

hahaha, it will definitely be phrased as 100% optional. I really want unused glassware they would otherwise discard. Some people have offered to lend items but that requires me to track who gave me what, make sure no one takes any home, and make sure none of them break. I’m getting a bunch from Freecycle that people are so glad to get rid of and have been really interested in my idea to repurpose them. I even had one freecycler offer up her officiant services so it’s having pretty interesting side effects.

I love the idea! I know my mom recently went through all of her old glassware (vases, glasses, etc) and just ended up dontating it… so passing it on to someone who would use it is awesome!

I’m glad other people seem to like the idea! Some people on freecycle have thanked me for motivating them to clear out their cabinets.
