Honestly?  No.

I think the far wiser decision is to find a new position as soon as possible.

If he does ask for a raise he needs to get it in writing.  And I would stay far, far away from any mention of the house and the child (congrats, btw).  One, most employers could care less about your personal circumstances; two, this guy sounds like the kind of jerk who wouldn’t hesitate to push your DH much harder without making any changes to his compensation, knowing he can’t quit because he has family obligations.
