I have a question. My Darling Husband will be at his job almost a year in July. When he got hired, the owner of the company promised a lot of things, 1 being his total comp would be well over what he was making at his last company. I encourged my Darling Husband to get it in writing but they were a small company and they didn’t do things in that way. The owner just said for your bonus you will be higly compensentated and you won’t regret the move.
Leading up to bonus and shortly after my Darling Husband joined he get wind that the owner of the company is a total creep and CHEAP, this made us very nervous for bonus time. Well bonus time comes, and I kid you not, he got $100 bonus, which came to abuot $60 after taxes. Now my Darling Husband is in a HIGH managmenet position, in his 30’s been in the work force for 10 plus years with a Masters degree and he get’s a $60. He saves the company ( the owner) thousands and millions on a daily basis, needless to say he was beyond disgusted. We knew he wouldn’t get a full out bonus but at least a porated half year bonus , but nope.
My Darling Husband went to his boss, who is not the owner but reports into the owner. She said there was nothing she could do that he is cheap and that is how he is. Obviously my Darling Husband wants out of the company, the benefits are terrible and then to not make a salary of what he thought is just upseting.
However, we have a baby ont he way, and looking to buy a house, when he went to get pre approved he was told he makes too little! That being said my Darling Husband was going to go to the owner of the company in July at his 1 year mark and ask for a raise. He now wants to do that now or at least in June.
Do you think this is a good idea? Can he mention after he states the points why he deserves a raise that he is starting a family and looking ti buy a house?
Thoughts on this?
