I would ask. We got our files on a dvd now and I couldn’t wait that entire time, I would go crazy.  I wouldn’t pay the full balance til it got closer, but we paid for a dvd fee which was $250, maybe he could split it so you could pay for the dvd of the engagement session seperately?

@GreenGables:  Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. Most vendors want to go out of their way to make their clients hapy, but they can’t do that unless they know what you want.

@GreenGables:  Just ask him if you can get the DVD as soon as possible. If he expects additional payment, he will  let you know ๐Ÿ™‚

This is not uncommon, and his business model probably counts on you, friends, family, ordering prints through the proofing gallery.  Once the DVD is sent, this probably won’t happen.  He may give you the DVD early, but most likely there will be a modest charge to offset lost print sales (I think 150-200ish is probably fair).

@GreenGables:  sounds good!  I was going to say a fair middle ground may of been websize files…you can use them but can’t make prints.
