My uncle lives in Canada. We live in Louisiana. I only see him maybe once or twice a year. My uncle visited a while back, but unfortunately our schedules didn’t line up. I’ve been putting off asking him to marry us because I really wanted to wait to ask him in person, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon.
He knows that we want him to marry us. We just have to ask. So although it’s not the ideal situation, I’d like to write him a card/poem to ask if he would officiate the ceremony. My mom is really close with him, and she knows he will say yes. I just have to figure out what to write.
I’ve been thinking about this for a few months, and I just don’t know how to word it so it sounds nice and meaningful. I know I could say, “We would be really honored if you would marry us,” but I need more things to say.
Any ideas on where to start? Or do you have a poem I could use? My mom is going to Canada in a few weeks to see his daughter (her niece) graduate from high school, and she said she would bring the card to him, so now I just have to write it.
