I asked one in person and the other during the course of a texted conversation.

mege15 :  I tolder my sister I was having her as my Maid/Matron of Honor (she wanted to be anyway and knew she would be so didn’t even really have to “ask”) and me and by best friend just chatted about it. Super  low key. I kind of find it a bit mad that people make it such a big deal though personally.

I wrote “Will you be my Bridesmaid?” cards that were heartfelt. Everyone loved them!

It doesn’t have to be anything big and over the top and Pinterest-fancy. I made some cute cards and wrote notes in them because who doesn’t like getting a card? 🙂 I was asked in a phone call for both the weddings I was in.

I sent “will you be my bridesmaid?” cards in the mail, since I lived very far away from all my bridesmaids. Otherwise I would have just asked in person!

mege15 :  A friend asked me just by giving me a card, and I was so surprised and happy with that!! I happen to be going all out for my bridesmaids, however, I’ve had months to plan, craft and save soo that’s why!! Thank the lord for sales at Michaels and Hobby Lobby!

We asked our Maid/Matron of Honor and Best Man as soon as we got engaged. It was actually the way we told them we were engaged, super funny to see the confusion and then excitement bubble up as they realised what was happening.

A letter and flower sound lovely! To be honest I got my girls a card and a personalized leather luggage tag from Etsy (they are all out of state so it made sense at the time), and it really wasn’t necessary. The card would have sufficed. The cost of having (and being) a bridesmaid can really skyrocket with all the little things closer to the wedding so save your money on the early stuff.

As for how many girls, if it’s a group of 4, then just invite all 4. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but chances are someone will drop out eventually anyway, either due to something that comes up or because of bridesmaid/friendship drama.
