Hi there, I live in Utah!
Here are the Trembling Giant, so others know what you are talking about! There is a giant aspen clone in Fishlake NF. It’s the oldest (80,000 years) and largest organism alive today. (It’s really huge not just this photo!)
This area of Utah is kind of out in the boonies. Well most of Utah is really! Richfield is probably your largest town, but it’s still pretty small and redneck. Torrey is probably the most hippie-ish. It’s also very high at 7,000 feet so if you go in the summer, Torrey will be not as hot as Salina for example. You’ll probably have to decide if one of these towns is your “base” or you want to move around to several towns.
Here is a map of Fishlake National Forest, so you can see where the towns are:
Here are a few photographers from Monroe, Richfield and St. George, UT:
Fish Lake (the lake itself) where the famous aspens are (they spread over 106 acres) is in Sevier County, UT. Here is info on a marriage license for that county. They are good for 30 days so you should be able to get it early on your trip. You’ll have to call them up to ask who can officiate a wedding for you, and see if they can suggest someone who’s willing to travel to Fish Lake.
What kind of lodging are you envisioning? Resort, camping, B&B, cabins, luxury?
When would you like to get married? I see November in your name.
I did a quick search for makeup artists. There are some in St. George and some in the SLC area. I couldn’t find anyone in the middle. Maybe look in the Southern Utah Bride Magazine link. I think you’ll have to pay for someone to drive up to you.
This is so much fun for me!
