Sigh…my two favorite cuts ❤️… (and OEC:s 😘).  I voted antique cushion for a solitaire just because I love Ashers more with pave styles or with tapered baguettes but really it sounds like your ring will be awesome either way

Either will be so pretty! My stone options (future husband is designing the ring and I’m a waiting bee!) are asscher, cushion, and radiant! I think maybe a cushion for a solitaire, but it depends on your band, and either will be lovely!

Personally, I love both. However, I think asschers are super pretty and very unique. I don’t think you can go wrong with either though.

Those are very different cuts. What do you like about each one? Do you prefer the chunky facets of the antique cushion which provide depth and sparkle? Or the setp-cuts of the Asscher which throw flashes of light?

I have an asscher solitaire and I love it.

Ugh steps cuts are life! What size are you going for? I feel like that will sway my opinion

They are both great choices!  I would try them on your hand and see how it looks.  Agreed with PP that it also depends on size, since asschers tend to be small face-up.  Have you thought about the specifics of the setting that you’d like (tapered shank, shoulders, cathedral, trellis, peg)?

I love the idea of that asscher solitaire, 7×7 sounds ideal for almost any finger size
