For those that have tried at home pregnancy tests, which brands did you use, how early did you test (before period or after), when did you get a correct reading (or false reading), which brand(s) gave you a correct reading (which gave incorrect readings)?

I’ve used all different brands – pink dye, blue dye, those little htin strip ones and I’ve always gotten the same, accurate, result no matter what. The only time I tested before a missed period was after my IVF cycle because I knew exactly how many days DPO I was and I was still on progesterone which would mess with my cycle anyways.

I used first response. I was charting, so I know I was 10 DPO when I got my positive. It would have been about 2 days before my period was due.

I’ve always used the “cheap” (aka store brand) tests and they’ve always been accurate (and I tend to overdo it because I can’t believe it the first two/three times). I usually test when I feel like crap and my husband tells me I’m acting crazy (my pregnancy signs). So around 4/6 weeks. Accurate reads all three times. Good luck!

I used a pink dye first response. I was a long time TTCer so I only ever tested when I was late – after a while you need to save your sanity and pennies.
Both my BFPs were at around 14 dpo

Okay, I tried a First Response test this morning 10 dpo (I think.. based on the Clue app I’m using) and it came out negative. I went online and read so many bad reviews about First Response so I wanted to start a discussion here. I’m really hoping I just tested too soon and will wait until my expected period to test again. I read the warnings about testing to soon and they were right.. I feel a little sadder now. I also bought ClearBlue, but haven’t tried it yet.

keep in mind that some people get positives earlier than others due to their hormone levels – it has nothing to do with the tests. Unless it was controlled via fertility treatments your ovulation calculation could always be a day or two off too.

I got a positive on the first signal (.88 Walmart cheapies) at 12dpo. Two days before my missed period. I didn’t test any sooner so I am not sure if it would have showed up sooner.
The same day I used a first response and got a positive as well but I thought the Walmart brand was darker (I also used my FMU for the Walmart brand but for first response which could have something to do with it).

8 DPO – FRER negative
10 DPO – Walmart cheapie + clearblue (not digi) very faint positive
11 DPO – FRER blazing positive

This is my 4th pregnancy….I got a positive with first response 6 days before my missed period, which is the earliest with all of them. It was a Tuesday, and I had weird boob symptoms that Saturday, and said to my husband “my boobs feel pregnant”. Lol probably implantation. Historically first response is the good standard for accuracy. I’ve gotten false positives on cheapies and blue dyes.
