Hi there!

I just cancelled my gym membership, because I wanted to prove to myself that I can work out without all the fancy stuff that we get sucked into.  I have been doing workout videos at home.  I use the “On Demand” feature that comes with my cable tv, and there are a bunch of free programs.  I basically look through it and see what looks good.  I also try to walk for an hour a few times a week.  This is mainly for my doggies, but I am benefitting from it as well!

Good luck and stick with it!

Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred is a good workout.  The DVD costs about $10 and has 3 levels of workouts for you to do.  All you need is a set of weights (I use 4 lbs, but you can use whatever is good for you) and a mat if you’re working out on a hard surface.  It’s only about a 25 minute workout, but the first time I did it I couldn’t move for 2 days I was so sore!

I cancelled my gym membership. I do Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVD’s. Right now it’s like this:

Monday thru Fri-7am 2 mile walk/jog 33 minutes.
8pm-Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.

Saturday-Leslie Sansone 5 mile DVD in the morning.
Saturday and Sunday are my rest days for the Shred.

I plan on canceling my gym membership once I get the chance to go and have the money in my account to cancel.

Currently I:

  • Use the treadmill J has
  • Use the weightballs
  • Zumba for Wii

I will also vouch for the 30 day shred! But lately I’ve been solely dedicated to the Wii Fit, which makes me feel guilty if I miss a day or gain a pound. For some reason I find it really entertaining to jog in my living room on a virtual island, even though I can’t make myself do it on a treadmill or in “real life.” And virtual hula hooping is a killer workout, way more so than actual hula hooping. Since you have a Wii already, I vote for the Fit package! But it’s definitely not free. Jillian is cheaper.

J wants to buy Wii Fit, but it’s not on the top of our list right now.  Maybe by summer.

@Miss Tattoo:You do the shred 5 times a week?! You are seriously my hero, I can only imagine how much hotter I would be if I could make myself do it more than twice a year.

I have the 30 day shred and Jillians other video No More Trouble Zones. It has great circuits and even if I only work out for 20 min, I definitely feel it the next day.

@pinkpaperbride: There are people who do 10 days in a row, rest two days and then move to the next level and do 10 days.

Would these DVD/Wii workouts be ok for a 2nd floor apartment?  I don’t want to disturb the neighbors below with lots of jumping or anything but I’m really interested in home workouts too.

Since you have the Wii, I would go with one of the EA Active games.  They always give me a great workout!

@soonerpsych:I wouldn’t recommend it if there are people living under you. Unless you do it in the middle of the day maybe
