- Wedding: July 2011
I always wanted to use Etta James’ At Last as our first song. Particularly appropriate as we have been together 11 years, have 2 children, and this will be Fiance first marriage and he just turned 50! My first marriage as well but not nearly as notable as I am only 29!
Now, I’m not completely obsessed with having every single element of the wedding be original (just a little!) but I have heard that this is one of the most overplayed and overused first dance songs of all time.
We both truly love the song but I hate to turn a special moment into another cliche.
It’s kind of like when I wanted to use This will be an Everlasting Love by Natalie Cole for our entrance until someone reminded me that it is the theme song for the EHarmony commercials. Totally ruined the song for me. Now, everytime I hear it I envision testimoinials on how someone met their life partner…
So, what are your thoughts on At Last? Cliche or timeless classic?
