So, I’ve told this story in a few places, but I’m bursting with excitement/energy/nervousness, etc., so I wanted to tell the latest chapter.
In early December, my boyfriend bought me an e-ring off of Amazon. It was a 1ct moissanite solitaire in 14k white gold. When he had it shipped, he sent it to his old address, not our new one accidentally (I can’t even imagine how panicked he was!)
In the process of getting it rerouted, he discovered the seller was just drop selling it from Moissaniteco.com, essentially. (Well, the seller was having specific rings made and then selling them on Amazon at a markup). So SO decided to order directly from moissaniteco.com.
He decided to tell me this whole story right before Christmas because he’d been hinting that there was going to be a Christmas proposal and he wanted to let me know it wasn’t going to happen afterall. I was disappointed, but excited to know he’d actually bought and paid for a ring. I didn’t realize he’d returned the original and hadn’t bought the replacement yet.
On Monday we were just watching TV and he turned to me and said “If I needed…some….help…with…the big purchase I’m about to make…would you help me?” At first I thought he was asking me to PAY for some of it, but it turned out he just wanted direction. Moissaniteco.com has such a huge number of rings, he said he’d started browsing and got kind of overwhelmed with the selection.
The next day I emailed him some I liked. I didn’t want an e-ring originally, this was his idea, so I’ve never been one of those women who thought for years about what e-ring I wanted or researched stone cuts or anything like that. I only knew I didn’t want to support the diamond industry. So it took some time wading through the designs to figure it out.
Turns out, I love halos! I would have been excited about a solitaire, but as I started to look here and on the website, I realized a halo was what I truly wanted.
So he ordered this at the 6mm (0.75ct equivalent) size:
The site says it will take 2 weeks to arrive. Sigh. I’m happy to wait, I just thought maybe maybe once the xmas proposal was off that I’d be getting a NYE proposal… Guess not.
My birthday is exactly 2 weeks from yesterday so I’m guessing he’ll want to go celebrate my birthday at some point after the ring arrives and I’ll get it then.
In the meantime, I’m going to stare at the picture awhile longer. For someone who never wanted an e-ring, I’ve sure come around to the idea fast!
