this is not the first go around for either of us. I’m 48, and he’s 60. but I’ve never had a wedding so I’m going for it. who will show up? no clue, are the kids happy about it ?? not sure but they are grown with families of their own. I have met the man I’ve looked for my entire life. I am happy and after 5 years we are going to make it official. and I”m so excited and happy. some days I think I may explode from the excitement of it all.
I’ve planed a very small but nice wedding. and have everything covered for less than $2,000. I found a beautiful dress on criag’s list for $75 that had been bought for a vow renewal. I call it my dollar tree wedding.

@honeybee46131: I LOVE this post! I have a thing about ‘mature’ weddings (Im hoping for one myself), just so ridiculously sweet and romantic!!!
and clever with the costing! kudo’s to you both, we might have to get some suggestions on how you trimmed the costs so much as Id sooner see others have a smarter wedding and be able to own their own homes 2 years sooner!
*sigh, I wish I told myself that when I did it the first time round… wait, my MUM told me :0

Your wedding sounds wonderful! I think we get so consumed with trends and lose sight of what is most important–marrying our best friends. Enjoy your day.

@honeybee46131: At the time of my wedding, next June, I’ll be 49 (it’s one week after my birthday 🙂 FI will be 52. It is his first wedding, my second. But my first marriage was so long ago, I’ve re-virginalized (kidding).
Like you, I’ve over the moon happy. I never doubted that we would have a “wedding” with all the celebration we could muster. Just want to spread that joy around.
Congratulations! You will rock your wedding.

Thank you everyone..
things are still going wonderful .
I found beautiful invitations at Michales for $5.99 a box.( 75 for less than $20 ) they had been returned so they were on clearance. Because we are having the wedding at home, and it’s so small I didn’t bother with the save the dates and just sent out the invitations early. I ordered a small amount of items for oriental trading. and I’m making my own wedding cake. and will get all my food from Sam’s club. I ordered some real flowers that will be added to silk ones to stretch them. I got my brides maid dresses on eBay for $15 each and found belts for $1.02 plus .08 shipping. I also got my shoes for $12 on eBay. I bought all my plates etc and serving trays at dollar tree. the only thing we have actually spent what I feel is a large amount of money on is the photos and DJ which I got for $800. and for some really nice port a potties that are $550, but they have hot and cold running water ,AC and lights hardwood floors stainless steel and granite fixtures . there is no reason to spend so much on a wedding if you don’t want to..
I hope you all are having a wonderful time planning your weddings I know I am 🙂

@honeybee46131: I’ve seen those portable bathrooms and they are really nice. They have really come a long way.
Sounds like everything is coming together nicely. I’m just about at the end of my majoy DIY projects and it is just putting it all together now. The international invitations go out in a few weeks (12 weeks out) and we still need to contract for some rentals, but all in all, I think things are kind of under control.
