@mishy:  please DO NOT use a laptop…Djs literally are supposed to run the show…they help control the timeline and make announcements while also keeping your crowd pumped and excited. I cannot stress HOW important a DJ or a BAND are…

@mishy:  I was stressed at a year out but now that I’m down to 8 months I actually feel like I have most of my ducks in a row. We are definitely going over our budget (I was naieve and made a budget before researching our area prices) but not by a lot (2k). It really depends on your area but if you are detail-oriented and do your research on vendors you can get a lot of bang for your buck.

@mishy:  @Payless:  We had friends do an iPod and it worked out pretty well, so I’m not sure a DJ is mandatory.  You will need to assign someone to be the MC though. (Just make sure the iPod isn’t accessible to everyone… there were a few battles over the song list and the groom ended up throwing the bride’s cousin’s phone in the bushes when he kept dicking around with the music, ha!)

@lolot:  I don’t know..My mom was a wedding photographer and I often went as an assistant and I can say that the people who went without a DJ or were cheap with them REALLY paid the price. I recently went to a wedding were they spent maybe 100 dollars on a DJ and it was just down right terrible. I am glad it worked for your friends wedding but 9/10 times it is a complete mess

I freak out when I start doing research when I got engaged last October. The $ seems so high no matter how much I cut (especially I have 200 guests) 

Photographer, banquet, liquor etc seems so expensive, just the food alone is going to cost me 16,000, photo are going to cost me 6400 (including engagement photos, gown rental, makeup and hair) 

Then three months after, I feel more calm.. it’s really not as bad as I thought it would be. Lucky I talk to a wedding planner before I dive in, she gave me a realistic quote on how much a wedding cost in Vancovuer … which is 30K so far, I think we may over by 1-3K the most. 

I’m still debating on having a DJ because we are not going to dance… my Maid/Matron of Honor even laugh with me that if I do dance that night, she will laugh at me (yes, me and my Fiance are that bad on dancing haha)
