Never! When you grow up you can wear one to your wedding and it’s called a ballgown 🙂

My Flower Girl is 9 too.  I let her pick out the style she liked.  I voted other, because I think it TOTALLY depends on how the girl feels about it!

My first instinct was she’s a little old, but if she loves it and her eyes lit up? No harm in letting her wear a dress she loves!

@Summer_Rose:  Yeah I mean I’m not saying they aren’t adorable because they are, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable with her in one.  I compromised and went with this one instead:

The dress you posted would not be good for my 9 year old who is already developing. (see thru holes on that dress?) But for my wedding her dress is tutu-ish. Its a lace bodice with a tulle skirt and she loves it.

That is a beautiful dress!  However, with any sort of feminine figure, that dress is likely too risque.

I’m gonna’ say 40.  I don’t think you should be rocking a giant tulle tutu at 40.  Anything less than that is fair game!

By the way, my flower girl was 5 and wore the flower girl dress that I had worn when I was 8 or 9 in my cousin’s wedding.  It was a tulle ballgown with big puffy sleeves and pearls embroidered on the bodice and around the neck.  She absolutely LOVED it and said she felt like a princess.  I think she was the cutest flower girl of all time!  Here are some pics:

I am surprised that so many people voted they are inappropriate for a 9 year old. As long as there is proper coverage and the top stays up, grown women wear those dresses and call them bridal gowns…

This is an older topic, but I wanted to comment also.  After reading all the comments, the only problem with wearing tutu dresses is the top of the tutu.  But, there are enough options, that option is given by lizardloo.  I was surprised to see this picture, because it’s one of the flower girl dresses I’m choosing between.  Very, very beautiful and classy.

My niece will be 6 1/2 at the time of our wedding, I really wanted a tutu dress, but yeah, it’s really too young for her.

I’m getting her this instead :

She’s too old at 9.  The top of that dress is see through when it’s pulled.  I actually decided against this type of dress for my four year old flower girl for that very reason.
