I wonder this also! I mean, can you really still be having sex once you hit ___ age?

I’m sure that depends on so many factors:

body chemistry as you age, menopause, erectile dysfunction, etc and how much you genuinely care as a couple to remedy the problems that arise from those issues.

@Roe:  Yea, this is all very true!

I am more so wondering about couples in their 80’s+. Can they even have sex? I mean, IDK really. I am sure they want to though. But can they?

One of the groups where Save-The-Date Cards is increasing the greatest is in people in senior’s homes.  Seniors don’t usually get the same amount of sex ed that teenagers do.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose:  Barring things like erectile dysfunction (which can be treated!), couples in their 80’s+ can definitely still have sex! Just requires some lube and likely some position modifications

@AB Bride:  In my area there’s apparently been a sudden increase in syphyllis among the elderly!

I took a class in college about HIV/AIDS and learned senior citizens made up a significant percentage of the growing HIV/AIDS population (in Floria especially)- They know they can’t get pregnant, many live in retirement communities, statistically men usually die first and then the all the active women are hooking up with the same men and spreading disease.  Crazy.  Could you imagine sitting Grandma down for a talk about safe sex?!

My dad, at 76, is “pretty active” according to my brother that he told….. ew.  I know that my uncle was on like 40%oxygen and 65, and he and the wifey just CRANKED up the oxygen and did it ….

I think where there is a will there is a way!!!!!

That said, most of my friends that have ohh…have 4 kids under 10 are far less active then my Dad … I think it ebbs and flows like the tide and what is going on in your life.

Women tend to lose lubrication after menopause, and it is more likely that men will suffer from ED (especially if they’ve had issues with their prostate).

Otherwise, many older adults enjoy sex and/or intimate relations other than intercourse well into late adulthood. They may need to modify positions if there is an issue with chronic pain or arthritis.

Random Fact, men can actually father children until age 90 or possibly even older.

I used to work in a nursing home and there was a married couple in their 80’s and they had sex often!
