My RE asked me what my typical LP was, so when I told her it was typically 14-15 days, she said to stop taking the progesterone on 16dpo or when AF started which ever came first.  If it was 16dpo, then I am to take a test prior to stopping to make sure that there isn’t a late bfp.  It can definitely prolong your AF from arriving.  Hope that helps!!  🙂

lol I meant to say something about that.  😛  That’s what I get for getting up at 1am.  😛  I’d agree that you are likely to get your period tonight or tomorrow.  Sorry the witch got you!!

Sorry it might not have been your month.  The one time I took Provera I got my period while still taking it, so I think you can keep taking it without it prolonging your cycle too much.

But, maybe you just were sleeping with your mouth open last night.   Here’s hoping!

@bluegreenjean:  Provera will bring on your period.  It’s not safe to use during pregnancy!  Prometrium is what’s safe to use during pregnancy or when hoping to be pregnant and supplementing your progesterone during your luteal phase.

My doctor has me taking prometrium starting on the 2nd day after I O and then I take it for 12 days.  I then take a HPT and if it is negative I stop the prometrium.  She says that stopping the prometrium will bring on my period.

My RE never had me stop prometrium until after i went in for a blood draw. my RN would call me with negative results and then instruct me to stop taking them that day.

@dodgercpkl:  Whoops.  My bad.  I thought they were both forms of  synthetic progesterone and that the withdrawl from the progesterone was supposed to bring on your period.  I’ll have to look that one up.

@bluegreenjean:  Prometrium is a bio-identical and helps increase progesterone for those that are low producers or suspected to be low producers.  It can safely be used during the luteal phase with the hopes that a pregnancy will occur and the extra progesterone will help support the pregnancy.  Provera is used solely to bring on a period and will almost always cause a miscarriage if taken while unknowingly pregnant.
