mrstbone:  Congrats on your upcoming Tough Mudder! I’ve done a lot of runs, and mud runs, but TM’s scare the crap out of me.

I naturally run at a higher speed but find that I get tired faster if I do that. So I slow myself way down to a jog at 4-4.5 mph. That allows me to keep my pace for a much longer time.

On a treadmill, I can walk up to about 4.8 – after which I have to jog to keep from falling off. Off-treadmill, I know I can walk a good brisk mile in just under 15 minutes; to do it in less time, I have to jog.

I’m 5’3 and 5 is when I start jogging. Running is 7+ for me. Sometimes if I’m feeling crazy I go for 9 during a short sprint.
