Hi y’all! We’re doing a reception for between 100-130, and want to keep it under 4k. It’s at the church, so it’s going to be short (two hours) with no alcohol. We got a quote from Avante Catering for 4k including food, high top tables and linens (my mom insists on both. i’d be fine with the church’s white), and dish/glassware. We’re already planning to do a heavy hors d’ouerve reception, hand passed (also my mom), and coffee service (you guessed it – mom). Not that it won’t be very nice with all these additions, and she’s paying for it. But she’ll complain about cost anyway, hence my search for a budget caterer. Any help from y’all would be appreciated!

@sweetpea87: I guess it really depends on what type of food you’re interested in serving.
Also is your mom paying for these extra “things” she would prefer to have? If not, you may want to consider letting her know that “extras” aren’t in your budget and that if she would like them, she may need to pitch in “extra”.
I don’t have any recs because I’m having West African food, but you definitely should be able to find heavy hors d’ouerve and linens for 100 – 130 people for less than 4k in Atlanta.
Although I got my own linens, my 3 entree buffet plus linen costs for 250 people is less than 4k. Just keep your eyes open.
