I’ve got a lot of DIY projects planned for our October 24th wedding, and I’d much rather enjoy time with family/friends than implementing the DIYS and talking to [the few] vendors! It’s things like setting up the ceremony site, putting out the favors, receiving the cake delivery and arranging the candle centerpieces [since we don’t have a florist].
Is this the realm of the Day-of-coordinator? I’d love to have professional help, but I’m not sure if they are willing to do the down & dirty set-up work.
My first idea was to pay a friend of a friend or my sister to help out, since they would likely be in the $300 range and willing to take over the craft-implementation. But then I was wondering if another bride might exchange services with me! I’d be your DOC, you be mine? Third option would be any recommendations for someone with experience I could hire. Maybe someone new in the business?
Any thoughts? I’d love your advice or recommendations!

If I weren’t within the 30 day mark and already had a plan in place I’d take you up on a trade. I think it would just depend on the level of "setup" you would be expecting as to if it would be within the realm of a DOC…but I think it’s a possibility someone newer would be willing to do all that. You might detail your event a bit more and what kinds of DIY items someone would be in charge of.

You can also check out the classified ad as well for wedding planning service, DOC or whichever you are looking for. You will mostly likely find what you’re looking for. There are planners that offer set-up/break-down as part of their DOC services as well. Hope this helps. Congrats on your engagement & upcoming wedding!

I trust my sis or else one of my bff’s to make sure it’s done right. I don’t really think I’ll need a DOC as I’m bossy enough and get things done right..but if I feel too hurried a few months away, we’ll see. I have enough designers in my family to make sure everything goes off without a hitch! My former wedding (to my xh) was much larger and I did it all..fairly easily I might add!

<!–StartFragment–>
I’m not sure if you’ve decided on a DOC yet, but I would highly recommend Sylvia Clark. I got married in December of 08’ and didn’t need a wedding planner since many of my friends and family graciously helped me with a lot of my wedding plans. However, I decided on a DOC.
I found Sylvia on The Knot and decided to contact her after reading many good reviews about her. After my first conversation with her, I was sold. She was professional, friendly, attentive, and listened to everything I wanted for my wedding day. She went above and beyond what I expected of a DOC. The day of my wedding couldn’t have gone smoother and I have Sylvia to thank for that.
