Hi!  I definitely did room blocks at several hotel because my wedding is taking place during Labor Day this year.  I wanted to make sure my guest found reasonable rates at hotels near our venue.

I would recommend you do room blocks also, no matter what weekend.  It’s just more convenient for guests to stay close to your wedding venue and there’s the added perk of having a lower group rate.

As far as where to block rooms, that really depends on where you’re getting married.  You should look at hotels wiithin a 5mile radius of your venue and choose 3 options (an upscale hotel, a mid-priced hotel, and an economy hotel) and let guests pick the one in their budget.

Hope this helps!  Happy planning!

We’re going with the Renaissance, Leows, and Georgian Terrace. They were super close to our venue so that’s how we decided to block off rooms there. They gave us some great rates, around $169/night!

Most hotels do room blocks. You should be able to block off a set # of rooms for a guarunteed price. This shouldn’t cost you anything unless you want to block off a huge #.

The Renaissance was great!  The rates were good and they had some really good perks.  Almost all of my out-of-towners stayed there.  Good location if your venue is Midtown or Downtown!
