Please, DON’T buy your lovely dress at those pages. The results in most of them are sad . If you sew your own things, try buying a pattern of your ideal silhouette and do it by yourself. Or look for a preowned thats looks similar.

My ideal dress is the Allure 9204, a princess taffeta ball gown. Bjt I can’t pay 1,680$ on a dress right now. My budget for the dress is no more than 600$. So, I’m looking for options too, but a good quality ones.

Good luck bee! 😘😊😊😊

Since you’re experienced, I’d do the dressilyme or whatever dress. You should be able to tweak the silhouette slightly. (The part that will probably be off will probably just require an alteration around the legs. Which would be easy peasy.) I’ve been considering making my own dress as well, but I’m not THAT experienced at making clothes. (I typically make home goods and bags vs clothing)

The pages that offers you a dress by a veeery low price, use fabrics of poor quality and cheap construction. A Bee recently post something about a very good replica page (I’m waiting for her answer about wich page she recommended).

But, I’m afraid of those China dresses. I think a preowned of the same designer will be a better option.

I’m also making my own dress! Couldn’t justify spending the money on a very expensive dress that i will wear once.  Please post updates as you go?

I have ordered this pattern: http://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v8814-products-22896.php?page_id=943. I’m thinking a pale gold colour with gold beading along the seams, in a soft drapy fabric (maybe silk?). I like the idea of an old Hollywood look without it looking costumey.

unfortunately my options for buying a dress are very limited. The only options here are super traditional and very expensive dresses that don’t meet any of my criteria (not white, not strapless, not princessey, under R2500 – which is like $250) or cheap prom type dresses. I thought about having something made but it’s not much cheaper, and I’ve previously experienced very poor workmanship having a dress made.
