how about just family – extended family and the bridal party?

though i didnt go to our post wedding brunch, our families had one (we had a 7:00 flight that morning for our honeymoon)

they had it only for family and a few friends who were in from out of town and didnt plan on leaving right away.

we had 120 guests and there were probably about 40 people at the brunch

I think you will be fine. Because the brunch isn’t just about eating, people will get food and sit down to eat it, but they won’t stay long. They will get up, talk to you then get going. So even if everyone shows up at exactly the same time, some can mingle while others eat.

And to answer your question, we had about 140 at our wedding and I think around 60 at our day after brunch. Basically everyone who actually stayed in the hotel and didn’t have to hit the road immediatley the next day came to brunch.
