Hello! I’m attending a wedding today. The only nice dress I have is a black one. It’s very classy and pretty. The bridesmaids are also wearing black. Theirs are shorter and strapless. Is it tacky to wear the same color dress as the bridesmaids? Our dresses look nothing alike except for color and length. Thanks!

I think you’ll be fine. Black is such a classic color that many guests will probably be in black. My bridesmaids are in black and Ill be surprised if some of my guests arent in black as well.

Thank you! I had googled my question, but found outdated responses from 2008 lol. I decided then to ask the trusty hive! Thanks again ladies!!

I agree with the PPs. Is there any way you can accessorize your dress to add some pops of color? Maybe then you won’t feel so matchy with the bridal party.

Yep, I agree with PP too! Black is classic. My BM’s dresses were black and I honestly couldn’t tell you who out of my guests were wearing black but I know there were quite a few. You just can’t avoid that color 😉 Maybe try pairing a shrug or some fun shoes with it?
