Hey ladies. Anyone else have a short torso… also know as high hips, short waist, long legs, etc. I do and the girl who sold me my dress kept trying to push the dropped waist dresses to “elongate” me, but I think they just made me look thick in the middle. I opted for a natural waist because I think it showed that my waist (all 2 inches of it) is pretty small. I’m debating on heels vs flats because I worry that heels may make me look even more unbalanced, but everyone says heels make you look longer. What do you think?? I’d like to see pics of other “leggy” gals.

@GrannyPantiesRock: I also have long legs and a short torso! I am between 5’9 and 5’10 and although I can wear 34 inch inseam pants, I buy up 36 inch inseams whenever I can find them! If my torso was proportionate to my legs, I think I would be 6 ft tall or over. I also ended up with a natural waist dress. I really liked the look of the dropped waist ones and even tried on a few and liked the effect, but I think the natural waist just emphasized my figure more. However, it’s a natural waist A-line and I plan on bringing in the hip area closer to my body. Not quite to a fit and flare, but just less flared at the hip. I haven’t talked to a seamstress about it yet and maybe she’ll tell me if I pull in the hip I’ll lose the look of the tiny waist, but that’s the plan at the moment.

@GrannyPantiesRock: I have a short torso coupled with large boobs and chose a natural waist dress as well. This is what I looked like on our wedding day:

I’m in this boat, too. My arms and legs are much longer than they should be for my height. I haven’t tried on wedding dresses yet (newly engaged), but I know that typically, anything drop- or empire-waisted looks ridiculous on me. I’m definitely planning to look primarily at dresses that are either natural-waist or fitted past the hip.

@emelee: You looked lovely. My boobs are average, but my hips are relatively large compared to the rest of me. There is a very fine line for me between looking like an hour glass vs looking like a can of coke. It’s all about the cut of the dress.

I ended up wearing heels because my groom is so tall.

I am the same, I basically have 6 inches between my boobs and hips lol. Natural waist always looks best on me EXCEPT when I came to wedding gowns! I went with drop waist because its the only thing that made me look like a person with curves rather than a pair of boobs with legs lol. My wedding isn’t until April, but here’s my gown.

@GrannyPantiesRock: Hello! I am 6’2″ and my torso is extremely short. My legs (from the floor to the top of my hip bone) is four feet. I wear 37 inch inseam jeans. Here is the dress I chose, which has kind of a drop waist/A line silhouette. I didn’t really need anything to “elongate” me, but I loved the fit of the dress. The corset back hid my love handles quite nicely!

I have a short tosro and big boobs and wide hips. I never wear shirts tucked in or anything that calls too much attention to my natural waist. I found that a fit and flare works best for me. I guess mine has an empire waist, because that’s where the beading is.

That’s me! I’m 5’7″ with a 35″ inseam! I ended up going drop waist, but I ALWAYS look better in natural waist dresses!

I am short (5’1″) AND short waisted — I had to custom order the bodice on my dress because of how little torso I have! BUT I got a ball gown with a natural waist and the custom bodice and it’s perfect. Unfortunately I won’t post pictures because I don’t want to reveal who I am IRL, but know if can be done!

@GrannyPantiesRock: I wore the San Patrick Rafaga, which has a dropped waist and later I wore the San Patrick Eresma (mermaid style with ruffles). Here is what they both looked like on me:

It looks like asymmetrical ruching is a common theme. I also felt like that feature gave me the nicest waistline.

Another gripe is that dresses always want to come up a bit too far under my armpits. I feel like everything would fit a bit better if I just had another inch or 2 of torso, lol. I was scared to order petite since I’m not really tiny (5’4″), and I would not have been able to try it on prior to ordering.

@housebee: I’m with ya. Mine is 6’5″ and I would feel odd wearing flats since I’m more than a foot shorter than him.
