@stephinPA: If only one of them lacks a suit, I’d just ask him if he’d like to take this opportunity to buy a cheap suit since he will need it for Life As A Man and renting would be a waste of his money and be a zero investment for future weddings, interviews, fancy events, funerals, etc.  The alternative is to have everyone shell out $100-190 for a rental which is zero investment into their wardrobe.  He can get a basic, cheap suit for that amount.

This suit would cost him $50….

Add the fact that he can spend $40-$80 on tailoring and look smashing in an inexpensive suit that would look 5 times better than an ill-fitting rental suit that can’t be altered… If he knows this cost/benefit analysis, I can’t see him wanting to rent something.  That’s how I see it anyway. 

Or he could borrow someone’s suit. Know anyone about the same size?
