It is your auf ruf too!  THey are about the couple, especially in an egalitarian synagogue like a Conservative or Reform congregation!  It can be as involved or not as you want it to be.  Traditionally, the couple will have an aliyah and one or both will read from the Torah.  Beyond that, you can include other relatives, or choose to do more or less of the service if you would like.  Have you met with the Rabbi who will be doing it?

@Bunnygirl:  It depends on the rabbi. Some might have you stand next to your Fiance, while others would have you sit. You should definitely try to be included in some way. An aufruf is such a lovely, joyful occasion!! 🙂

@Bunnygirl:  It’s odd that the rabbi had you wear a kippah; I’ve never heard of that before, especially for an aufruf. Still, I’m glad you had such a good time!! 🙂

@Bunnygirl:  it wasn’t so much the fact that you HAD to wear a kippah, it was more so that you have to have your head covered when infront of the torah.  I refuse to wear kippahs, so for my Aufruf I am going to wear a hat.

We are having ours the Friday morning before my wedding with a breakfast to follow also.
