- Wedding: August 2011
Wahoo! I’m finally married! Here are some details, for the curious. I know I scoured the Recaps board in the weeks leading up to my wedding day!
Pictures: NJD Photography (no password needed!) Niki Desautels was so fun to work with!
Venue: Center for Urban Horticulture on the campus of the University of Washington
My Dress: Bliss dress in all white, by Chrissy Wai-Ching
My BMs’ dresses: David’s bridal, in the colors Lapis, Wine, and Marine (I LOVE how this color combo worked out!!)
Flowers: My bridesmaids, mom, and I met the photographer at Pike Place Market the morning of the wedding to pick out flowers, as I wasn’t too picky about what the flowers looked like (and I didn’t want to pay $$$). We got flowers for my bouquet and 3 Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets for $20 total, and we had flowers left over. There are pics of my BMs and me assembling the bouquets, too, which is cool!
While we were at Pike Place, probably right before my girls and I all climbed on the pig (first picture), a bird pooped on me! (second picture) Every single person I told said it was good luck to be pooped on by a bird on your wedding day. Who knew?!
My hair flower, wedding ring, necklace, the girls’ silver pashminas, and all the guys’ tie bars: Etsy. Etsy, Etsy, Etsy. Did I mention I love Etsy?
I did my own makeup and some of my own hair, and then my friends stepped in to help.
We did a ring warming (the rings were passed through the crowd starting at the beginning of the ceremony), and there are some cool pics of that too.
At the end of the night, DH & I put on our running shoes and “Just Married” signs on our backs and walked to the Ram (in U-Village) with the photographer, where we ended the night…
And then we walked back to our hotel room to find that the groomsmen had put ALL of the furniture in the suite (sleeper sofa, chair, table, coffee table, a couple other chairs, ALL the lamps, etc) ON TOP OF THE BED. There were also marshmallow peeps EVERYWHERE: in the toilet, sink, shower, on top of picture frames, “Peep jousting” by the microwave… it was a memorable, fantastic day. Enjoy the pics, and let me know if you have any questions!!
