@lovelylight99:  Good Luck with your hair! The one I loved ended up being the 3rd so maybe that will be your lucky time too!

@elysion:  What was your thoughts for the rehearsal dinner? I don’t think it has to be fancy, it should be more causal and relaxed if thats what you wanted.

I cannot believe its already April… Thankfully we have already accomplished so much because we have been so busy lately and the next few months will be even busier. BUT here’s my list:

  • Programs- decided not to order them so this will be a huge project that I will be taking on so I want to get started
  • Finish working on Welcome Letter so that can be printed too
  • Order Thank you notes so I have them for Surprise Shower, whenever that might be
  • Print Rehearsal Dinner Invites and Info Card
  • Make more rehearsal dinner BBQ packets
  • Design wooden signs so Fiance can start working on them
  • Put together invites with BM’s so they can be ready to go in May
  • Work on choosing music with Fiance
  • Get Bridal Party gifts all together to give me more space in my dining room
  • Organize Wedding Central (the dining room has been taken over)

AND most importantly meet with our new planner and make sure all the information was passed along correctly, plus ask some other questions I have been writing down.

@VermontBride13:  I am in the same opinion as you!  We booked a conference room in the hotel we are going to have a hotel block at and plan to get catering from one of our favorite restaurants.  My mom’s concerns are that we’ll need a lot of decorations (which I kind understand; if you book a restaurant then they come with decor) and that we need to invite all out of towners, family, etc.  I’m okay with family, but if we include out of towners that’s almost the whole guest list!  Maybe I am being a little lazy though, because all our planning has been driven by the wedding, and the rehearsal dinner became kind of an afterthought.

Did you have a different planner before or did you just hire one recently??

I’m on a forced wedding break in April so that I can finish my M.A. thesis. But, I still have to:

-finalize details of rehearsal party with Future Mother-In-Law

-pick fabric for flower girl dresses (mom is making them)

-finish collecting stuff for tables (vintage glass, silver trays)

@elysion:  Thats like exactly what we are going through with the Out of Town guests. FI’s parents want to include all of them which would be the entire wedding. We compromised and increased to 70 (which is ALOT) but thats the room max. They still want more but it just becomes insane making it even larger. As long as you provide guests with places to eat close by if they do come up the day before they can get their own food or maybe plan to meet any who do come up at the bar in the hotel or something to just say hello.

Decor can be simple, we are just doing mason jars with candles and/or some simple red flowers (BBQ picnic so red and white), otherwise no decor. I also made little packets with a picnic table pattern napkin, mints, toothpicks, and personalized wet wipes to add a little something without driivng myself crazy.

Its just the planner from the venue but ours who we have been working with for the pasr 18 months is leaving so we are getting a different woman who works there.

Is it April already?  OK here we go:

– Finish weddig invitation proof and order invitations (this is technically FI’s to-do since he is designing the invitations and his friend is printing them)

– Order FI’s wedding band (he has no idea what he wants)

– Book a hair and makeup person that can come to the hotel and do me and my three bridesmaids (and not rob me blind).  Get trial done.

– Start seriously planning the honeymoon not just looking at $10K a night hotels in Tahiti.

– Meet with the florist to see a mock-up of the centerpiece.

– Find the right ribbon for the bouquets.

– Finalize favors and buy supplies (95% sure we’re doing mini Mint Juleps)

– Pick out a cake design and flavors

– Finalize menu so Fiance can design and print menus

– Guys need to get those tuxes

– Order bridesmaids’ robes and start shopping for their gifts.

– Buy some minor decor like Thank You sign and Cake Topper.

  • Meet with the officiant tomorrow to place the deposit and go over ceremony options
  • I just booked our time slot for the hair salon today, still need to find a makeup artist
  • Still need to find a DJ, this has been more difficult than I thought. Either their wayyyy out of our budget, or their wayyyy below budget but very unprofessional or inexperienced.
  • Need to purchase a sash I’ve been eyeing from a local bridal shop
  • Play around with our centrepieces and do some mock ups
  • Fiance, Groomsmen and my Father need to book their tuxes
  • Keep saving for the wedding…………………

I’m planning to:

-finalize guest list

-finish our DIY stationary (invitations, programs, escort cards, menus)

-choose and buy our wedding bands

-buy all accessories

-make our second payment to the florist

-rent tuxes? (not sure if that will actually get done)

-complete our engagement pictures

That’s it for now…

@VermontBride13:  Yeah, I think I really need to just put my foot down with my mom!  The conference room really won’t fit all the guests that I think she has in mind.  I like your simple but cute decor ideas.  Maybe we’ll try to do some kind of simple flower arrangements or something.

Good luck with your new planner!  I’m glad it’s just a passing the torch kind of situation rather than running into trouble with an old planner!

– mail out the invitations!!! This was supposed to be done before Easter but we couldn’t use the envelopes we received and we are still waiting on the new order.

– pay off the remainder of my dress and start alterations. My first appointment is on the 20th.

– finish wedding website. We are waiting on our e-photos which were supposed to be done 2 weeks ago (still trying to keep my cool about this)

– finalize menu. We can’t attend the tasting, so we need to figure it out based on the catering booklet they sent us.

– book our room for our wedding night. I feel like if I put it off to later, I’ll forget.

– cupcake tasting this coming Saturday DONE–chose 2 of the 3 and got a better price

– order Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses hopefully going to be done this week

– book my trial and give the salon a list of things for the day of DONE and they’re blocking off the entire salon for us for three hours so we can eat and get ready alone

– stalk the post office for those gorgeous seed packet stamps (they come out on Wednesday, for anyone who’s interested!!!) DONE, except that my PO didn’t have and hadn’t heard of those stamps, so I waited in a long line for basically nothing except to have my invites weighed and make everyone else stand in line for a solid 5 minutes while the lady looked for them

I got some new detail ideas and picked up a ton of votive holders and styrofoam balls at the dollar store.

@VermontBride13:  Nope, my PO didn’t have them and had no idea what I was talking about. I ended up ordering them online + $1.75 for shipping (I ordered 6 sheets).

ETA: I emailed Future Brother-In-Law about FI’s bachelor party. We’ll see if he replies. I tried to be nice, phrasing it that my bridesmaids were looking for date suggestions for mine and wanted to know what he was thinking for FI’s. What I really wanted to say was, “Are you going to be a real best man and throw your brother a bachelor party, or am I going to have to blow up and then tell Fiance to choose a best man who isn’t worthless?” I’m so done with putting up with his brother’s shit. I don’t want him in the bridal party anymore…or invited to the wedding.
