Has anyone from the hive been to French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea) either on a honeymoom or just for a vacation? It’s the destination that we’ve been planning and now that we’re getting closer, I’m getting nervous thinking is it really "worth" the amount that it’s going to be? Any other ideas for an exotic locale, beach, good weather, etc. in early August?

We’re going to Tahiti/Bora Bora in early august too! I’m super excited for the overwater bungalow and to veg out. We will probably do some shark feeding/snorkeling, but really it’s to relax after a VERY stressful year of work for both of us and the stress of wedding planning. What can we more relaxing than the middle of nowhere with no cell or blackberry reception.
Some other places couples have honeymooned with great weather in August seem to be Mexico, like Puerto Vallarta or Cabos. Costa Rica has some great activities (I’ve always wanted to try the zip lines).
Also Trip Advisor has been a great help, so check them out before booking anything.

I went to Bora Bora about seven years ago! It is absolutely PERFECT for a honeymoon. Just like lilneko says – no phone, no blackberry, no stress. I know it’s mad expensive, though – but it really is unlike any place on earth for scenic beauty and the "deserted island" feel.
Also super exotic and gorgeous but much cheaper (in my experience) is Thailand – koh Phi Phi is ridiculously scenic and lush, but food/accommodations/sightseeing costs are waaaay less expensive throughout Thailand.
MAKE SURE you rent a "mini car" and zoom around the main island in it – and don’t miss Bloody Mary’s restaurant – cute little palm fronds shack that everyone famous goes to.
Your photos will be TO DIE for. All those isolated lagoons – the water crystal clear as far as you can see. Truly one of my favorite places ever.
