@candy08:  thank you both. Yea the highs and the lows of this process are really rough. I’m looking toward taking a few months break to regroup my brain and then jump in into my 3rd retrieval. Not going to give up. Not a quitter: which might be crazy but I guess if you want something bad enough, you’ll do anything to get it. No one ever prepares you for the shitty times in this process. I wish I went into this with lesser expectations… anyway, I think once I go into my next retrieval at the end of October I will be distracted enough with work and that strangely might help my anxiety since i’m a teacher and back at school now. We’ll see. Also; FUCK ENDO. If I could rip it out of my body with my hands at this point I would.

I wanted to update you guys. We got to see our baby girl today and she has a tiny heartbeat. She’s measuring a couple of days behind so we’ll see if she catches up in a week when I go back in for another scan. Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. They are definitely helping!

Got my betas yesterday and they are rising but still not doubling.  They are in the 2000s now. My RE told me last tues that as long as my levels are still rising within range we will scheudule an ultrasound for the following wed. Well yesterday they called and said my ultrasound is thurs because they are booked up wed. I was like what? We have known about this for a week why on earth didnt you guys schedule it then? The nurse just told me she is sorry and can only imagine what im going through and that they are here for me. I didnt say anything else but I wanted to say wtf? We think my clinc never expected my numbers to keep rising so they didnt scheudle ultrasound. My RE told me last tues she thinks my levels will drop before ultrasound but still a chance they will rise. Im super annoyed. My clinic has always been so good to me but right now I feel like im just a number to them and not a person. My RE knew we have been waiting im agony for an answer so waiting an extra day because of poor planning on their part is just so upsetting. An extra day in ivf world is like months! The only silver linning is I am hoping waiting longer maybe we will get a heartbeat if all is ok. It could still be too early though they said.  Ill be 6 weeks and 1 day on thurs. They will be looking to see yolk sac and gestation sac. I was beyond upset yesterday and I know one more day isnt that bad…but it sure feels long to me.

We dont know if we should try and be hopeful or not at this point. We are just praying it works out.  Hope I can make it to Thurs without having a nervous breakdown. I also worry if the pregnancy is viable if all this stress will hurt it? I try so hard not to stress but I cant help it.

Thanks so much ladies for letting me vent!!

@candy08:  I’m so sorry. I’m also equally annoyed at how my clinic has handled my low beta result. I wonder if it’s because they try to avoid doing ultrasounds that don’t show a developing pregnancy. I will say that the actual appointment was very well done. The nurse was super empathetic and understanding that we weren’t there to celebrate yet. We were completely apart from anyone else while doing my vitals and she and my RE were great during the exam. I hope you get the same treatment for your ultrasound.

If you will be 6+1 don’t freak out if you don’t see a heartbeat. They will measure the sacs and that will give you an approximate gestational age. If it’s less than six weeks they may not try to zoom in to see a heartbeat as it would be too early. I was at 6+2 and the baby was measuring at 6 weeks exactly so we could see a heartbeat. Unfortunately you may leave that ultrasound without much more info as they then need to do a follow up ultrasound and labs to see if the baby is growing. My RE told me that everything looks good now but that doesn’t mean it will be the same next week. We need to see if she stopped growing at six weeks, if she catches up by next week, or if she grows some but is still measuring behind. I am finding this part so much worse than any of the anxiety we went through while doing trearments. It’s like you are so close to the finish line but can’t quite get there because it keeps being moved. The good news is that your numbers are going up so I’ll cross everything that you end up with even more good news next week.

@piscesinsc:  Im glad your clinic handled your ultrasound well. My clinic did tell me that if all looks ok on Thursday I will come back at 8 weeks. Im like what 8 weeks? Why not bring me back at 7 and then 8. If the pregnancy is having no sign of issues I get spacing appts out but if there is concern it is so comforting for the patient to go more often. I figured I will talk to them about that if all is ok on Thurs.  I agree the anxiety right now is worse then anything that happens during treatment.

I hope all goes well for you at next appt? Is your next ultrasound next week as well? Also did they measure the hb  yet? It may have been to early but I was just curious because if hb is in normal range even if the baby is a few days behind that is generally a good sign! Thank you for the well wishes! Good luck to you!!

@candy08:  I would definitely ask about another ultrasound at 7 weeks, but it’s possible they were giving you best case scenario. They may bring you in if the baby is measuring behind next week, just like they are doing with me. If the baby has caught up, though, then maybe they want to space out the appointments. Unfortunately, we’re at the stage where the ultrasounds just give us peace of mind and there aren’t any interventions that can be done if there’s anything wrong. My RE just said that at this point it isn’t up to anyone what happens so all we can do is be hopeful and keep following all the guidelines. Now that there’s a heartbeat, I’m not even getting anymore bloodwork done, it’s just the ultrasounds from here on out.

My ultrasound is on Friday, a week after my last one. They didn’t measure the heartbeat, but it was beating regularly as we could see it on the ultrasound screen. I thought about asking if they could measure it, but I didn’t want another data point to stress over if it wasn’t normal. I figure I’ll just be happy that she’s in there and her heart is beating and we’ll figure out the rest next week.

@piscesinsc:  That is a good point that they may have just given me best case scenario when they said I wouldn’t come back until week 8. Ill just have to see how it goes on Thurs. I agree knowing the hb measurements can be comforting but also stressful! Not all clinics measure the hb but mine always has in the past. Im not sure if they still do.

I think that they detected a heart beat thats a good sign! I hope all goes well for you next week and the wait goes fast! I hate being in limbo!! My parents came to visit this weekend and I ended up telling them whats going on. My mom thinks we get too much info with ivf and it makes us over stress. Its true but it cant be helped. Having my parents here has been a welcome distraction.  When they go home tomorrow I hope I can still stay sane! With it being covid times I cant get out much to get my mind off stuff!

@piscesinsc:  thanks girls for your encouragement and good vibes. Yes I’ll be taking two AF cycles off so I’ll be starting stims towards the end of October early November. In the meantime I’m just going to take my supplements and I’ve the healthiest life possible. Going to try a gluten and dairy free diet as well. That’s going to be hard for me,’I can do without the carbs (I did a low carb diet before my wedding and lost 18 lbs) but cheese is my favorite. We’ll see how far I can go with it.
