- Wedding: November 1999
So! Yesterday, I went to my first bridal fair. Ah!! So much fun!! I got to -touch- wedding dresses. And hold a bunch of roses, and go in a photo booth and make faces with my Fiance. So much fun. However… my mother came with us to help find a few things. Although the venue and food is all booked up, we still need a dj, an officiater, clothes for everyone, and we are searching for a venue/catering for a second, at-home reception for the million family members that I am not inviting to the actual wedding. We were talking to the people running the awesome booths and they all said the same, strange thing.
For example, I was looking at a make-up trial for a month before my wedding, and when I mentioned I am getting married on August 4, 2012 the lady was like… “Oh! Everyone is getting married that day!” And then I heard it repeated thirty times. Some people we approached wouldn’t even talk to us and asked for their card back after hearing my date, since they are so amazingly booked up around that day. Seriously. Apparently, nearly half the people who attended this fair are getting married on August 4th.
Is this a popular day? I didn’t think it was. I booked it months ago with very little thought on it. It’s not too early in the summer, not too late. It’s a saturday on a long weekend, so hopefully everybody will already be off work and free. When we paid for it, the vendor told us that two other couples tried to book that day, but they promised it to us first. Has anybody else ran into this strange problem? Is this just my wedding fair? Is everyone in the world getting married on this day? Or was this just the most peculiar coincedince?
On a side note: bring labels to wedding fairs. I waved away the kind lady offering to print them off and sell them to me at the door, and then I had to write our names/phone numbers/address/email/wedding date fifty billion times. Also, don’t do what I did and have your engagement shoot the morning before the wedding convention. I got very weddinged out and was falling asleep on the drive home!
