@MissPurplePurl:  I’m SOO stoked about our outdoor reception. Fiance and I are going to Riverside, CA at the Mission Inn. We booked so early, we were able to steal the outdoor courtyard to use for the entire night! Usually it’s reserved for all weddings to host their cocktail hours throughout the night but it is ours! All ours!! *maniacal laugh*

Since our wedding is only 60 guests, this space will be PERFECT for our intimate dinner.

And this is the door to our beautiful chapel!

I am also having an outdoor wedding! We are having a formal ceremony in a catholic church, Fiance and his family are catholic, then we are having an informal outdoor ceremony (apparently this is really common!) Followed by an outdoor (ish) reception. Fiance and I choose to have the second ceremony and reception outdoors because we both love the outdoors, we really wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Here is where our ceremony will be. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our reception will be in a barn-ish looking building but the doors open up all the way and there are skylights so it feels more open, and the courtyard/dance floor is open so it hardly feels like you are in a building.

@MissPurplePurl:  I’ve always wanted an outdoor wedding, wouldn’t have it any other way!  We are getting married in Traverse City, MI, and for our ceremony we are looking into a vineyard (visiting next weekend!).  Our reception venue is booked, and it’s on the water!  It’s inside, but the ballroom is all windows, so it overlooks the Grand Traverse Bay.  Gorgeous.  i’m so in love with it. ๐Ÿ™‚  There’s a balcony/terrace outside the windows so guests can mingle out there, as well.

Also, my biggest concern or “pause” is that it will be way too hot!  I was hoping that getting married in northern Michigan would help to escape some of that August heat.  Well, this past weekend it hit 91 degrees in Traverse City Surprised This was really shocking to me, because it was only 83 here, and we live 4 hours downstate *facepalm* Hmm… Oh well, we will just offer lots of cold beverages and programs that can be used as fans! haha

@MissPurplePurl:  Well when we discussed what we wanted to do to the priest (traditional catholic ceremony followed by an outdoor ceremony), he told us that it is really common within the catholic faith in the Oregon area. He explained that his relatives had done the same thing. Since Fiance is catholic and I am not practicing a religion this is the situation we felt worked best.

We’re doing it in Los Cabos, Mexico so it will definitely be outside!

    This is the venue

@MissPurplePurl:  The inside portion will be a traditional catholic ceremony and the outside ceremony is where we will write our own vows and do a wine box ceremony. We will say vows in both ceremonies but the outside ceremony will be less traditional. We will be exchanging rings in the first ceremony indoors.

We’re getting married outdoors overlooking the ocean. And our reception will be in a semi-permanent tent on the lawn overlooking the water too (hopefully a warm day so we can roll the sides of the tent up for the view!

@lizoley:  how funny! I actually put down a deposit at Lake Oak Meadows with my ex almost 5 years ago. It was so beautiful! (And expensive yikes lol). We never did make it the marriage though and lost the deposit but I remember falling in love with the place. It was the first and only venue we looked at.

I am now getting married in Upper Peninsula Michigan, borderline Wisconsin with my one true love.  We are getting married at my FI’s dad’s house on a lake. The ceremony will be by the woods and the water and the reception in a tent by the lake. I am so excited! Hopefully the weather is perfect too ๐Ÿ™‚

@nawella:  I’m slightly tempted to crash your wedding! Too bad we will just be returning from our honeymoon. Lake winnisquam is so pretty! and we thought about getting married there as well but I didn’t love the thought of having my wedding where my prom was, hope your planning is going well.
