So as some of you may remember from my previous post, I was in a bit of a date pickle because of FI’s best man’s ability to come.
Well, we decided to have it in the summer so the best man should be able to come! And because my parents were going to have too much to do to get the backyard ready for next summer, we are having it at a venue downtown (for any Ottawa, Ontario bees, it’s The Courtyard Restaurant.)
Except, I’ve always thought I’d have a fall wedding: deep purple, gold, burgandy, etc. Rich fall colours and flowers. That doesn’t seem entirely appropriate in mid August, when it’ll likely still be 30+ degrees celsius! Plus I’d love to have some in-season flowers to keep cost down.
Any suggestions for August colourss? Fiance will be wearing a grey suit, if that helps. And I’d still love to have purple somehow. Just at a loss for how to make the colours seem less fall like.

My wedding was in July. My girls wore navy and we all had bright orange. I’d say anyone who follows a wedding website would probably think we were wearing autumn or even winter colors (or both). Not only did I not care, no one at my actual wedding did anything but tell me what a fantastic color combo it was. Use the colors you love!

Use the colors you love. Hydrangeas are in season in August and they come in all shades of lavender, purple. plum, blue and pink.

Agree. You can definitely get away with your original color scheme. If you wanted to lighten it up, you could switch out some of the richer colors for some lighter ones. So do burgundy with a crimson or dusty rose, or do the deep purple with lilac accents. I love the contrast of rich “fall” colors with lighter “spring” colors, I think they photograph really well.

Oh wow! They do come in all kinds of colours. And from the sounds of it aren’t ridiculously expensive.
Good point! Lighten up the colour but keep it the same shade, kind of thing. I like it!

Update: I chose my colours! A little brighter, but I’m quite happy. Plum, Raspberry, Blush/Dusty Rose, and Grey.

My wedding was just this past August and our colors were dark grey, light grey, blush, ivory, light green and gold. I felt like they were really good colors for the summer, but I’m also biased. You could easily incorporate purple into that!
Edit: didn’t see your post for choosing colors, but I love them!

You can still do rich and bold colors. I had a late August wedding, and went with navy for the bridesmaids, and bright pink, burnt orange, and green for the flowers. I actually considered purple for the bridesmaids but they preferred navy.
