@sofiekitty:  Hey girl I know you’re probably busy with newlywed bliss and all 🙂 but I know you got your veil from “IHeartBride” on etsy too.. I just got mine from there, I was wondering what fulness you got? 72″? 108″? I got the full 108 and I’m wondering if its too full?? I like yours in your pics so I’m wondering what fullness that is! Maybe I just need to steam it and it will lay more flat…

@hbean:  I’m glad you found a cheaper way to do the alterations! My alterations are insane expensive… I’m having it hemmed, and taken in at the sides, and some straps made for the church part that will be taken off… total is like $730!!! Ugh…

@AlicialovesJose:  Thanks! Mine will come to about $500 when all is said and done — still a big expense! I do attribute the lower cost on alterations to ordering the split size through AJ to fit my bust — BEST IDEA EVER.

@hbean:  Wow!! If I had only known!! I’m a size smaller on top than on bottom too, that would’ve been a huge savings!! ah well, what’s another $300 at this point ?! :/ ugh

Hi Ladies,

I can’t thank you all enough for this thread! I went dress shopping for the first time yesterday with no intentions to purchase. I just wanted to look and get ideas and I ended up buying the AJ Jessie. I woke up this morning feeling a little unsure if I made the right decision and after seeing this thread and all your beautiful pictures, I am feeling much more at ease!

The dress is definitely at the top of my budget so I want to try and save on the veil and belt. I see that some of you ordered veils and belts from etsy. Does anyone have pictures of the completed etsy look dress and all?

Also, I am considering lowering the back of the dress as well, anyone do this and have issues with the fit after?

@aliciarose8:  Welcome to the thread! I had my back lowered and I LOVED it and it did not affect the fit.  I got my belt at my salon but my veil was from the Etsy seller “iheartbride” who was a joy to work with. Keep in mind, I had my Jessie heavily altered so it doesn’t look much like the original but I wanted to show you my Etsy veil as well as the lowered back. (I had my neckline lowered, buttons added, back lowered, and also had the shape changed into a tight mermaid fit).

@sofiekitty:

Thank you for the pictures! You really looked stunning!

Question- was your dress the cream color or white? The color seems to match perfectly in the picture.

Also, how would you rate the quality of the veil? I know cheaper veils can be rough and not as soft and flow as the expesive ones. This veil is certaintly cheaper than what I’ve seen in bridal boutiques, but still decent amount.

@aliciarose8:  I thought my veil was really great quality and as you can see from the pictures, it flowed really nicely and didn’t look poufy or crunchy at all.  The salons only charge so much because they can. They over charge on everything.  I saw the same belts that they had at my salon online for half the price. (Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything like mine online so I ended up splurging and buying it at the salon). Even the jewelry that they sell is WAY overpriced. They had these things called “solemates” to put on your heels so they don’t sink into the grass for $20 at my salon and I bought them online from the actual company Solemates for $10.  Oh, and my dress was the cream color 🙂

@aliciarose8:  I bought a veil from the etsy seller too… I’m not 100% sold on the quality to be honest with you, the veil that I tried on in the bridal salon laid much smoother… I’m going to steam it really well and do a side by side comparison at my next fitting though (on July 8).. I’ll take some pictures and post them.

Definitely cheaper to go the etsy way.. the lace trim I love, its just the gathering at the top that was much poofier and not as smooth looking than I had hoped… we’ll see . I’ll keep ya posted.

It seems like most of you went with a long veil for the Jessie…. did anyone get a Fingertip length? Just curious… I tried on long and fingertip. I love the look of the long one for the church but overall was more comfortable with fingertips. Any opinions? I’ll have to take pics next time!

Hi everyone! Had my last dress fitting yesterday and wanted to get everyone’s feedback… I had the crease from the corset removed by adding boning to the dress! worked perfectly!! The bunching you’ll see is just from the under slip in the dress. It needed to be pulled down, but I was so hot and sweaty (95 degree day!) that we didn’t bother.

i had bought the belt originally to cover the crease. So the question is… Blingy Belt or no blingy belt for my jayma? Am leaning towards having it removed. I feel like I’m ruining a timeless dress with the belt, and in ten years it will have just been a fad.

Thoughts, ladies?

@hbean:  Gorgeous!! Honestly, I think that dress doesn’t need a blingy belt at all. I myself LOVE bling, and didn’t care if it was timeless or not….but with that said, I think your dress actually looked better without the belt.  If anything, I think a wider belt (maybe 1 or 1.5 inches) would look best….anyways it looks amazing on you!!!
