thepinkflamingo:  I designed it and had it made locally 🙂

The e rings I have seen on people around look to range between .4 – .8 for solitaires, but I’m noticing that jewelers around are very well stocked in halo’s!

PorcelainBelle:  Thank-you so much for sharing!  It is just beautiful. Sigh.

At some point in the future I am going to inherit an emerald cut diamond and this is my intended setting.  Your specs are very helpful thanks.  Lock it in Eddie 🙂

thepinkflamingo:  Thanks! I too designed it and had it made locally (thank-you Diamonds International 40% off sale).  Centre stone is 1ct E/VS2,  surrounding stones are all 0.015, ~ 3/4 ct total for the halo and band.  My finger is a 6.

If any Brisbane Bees need custom work done, ask for Ron the manager at the DI store in the city.  The other staff were so-so but he was really helpful and had some good suggestions as we went along.

Another Melbourne girl here. Mine’s a 4.7ct Colombian emerald set in yellow gold and platinum, with diamond stepped shoulders. It was custom made here in Melbourne by a small boutique jeweller. Having serious withdrawals right now, it’s back at the jeweller for a couple of weeks so my wedding band can be made to fit round it!!

So nice to see all the Aussie bees!

We have gone down the custom route with a peach sapphire – the main reason being that my SO didn’t want a Michael Hill diamond ring like everyone else in Australia seems to have! (No offense to anyone, and some of them were lovely it just doesn’t suit his personality)

I would have been perfectly happy with a moissanite too, but they do seem to be very rare over here so I couldn’t convince him! And we couldn’t find anything in our stores that was under $25k 😂 I swear the markups here are ridiculous!

Your set is absolutely stunning by the way – how much input did you have?

I don’t have a ring yet, it will be made soon. I have observed in Sydney, a trend towards a 2 carat range in engagement rings and plenty of halos. Sadly, mine will not be two carats (i wish) but hey, can’t win everything!! 🙂

Melbourne gal here. I have a pink sapphire. One of the women saw my ring at work yesterday and went, “Oh, it’s pink” (I am still giggling over that. I think she expected a diamond, which is not to my taste, although they look great on other people)image
