I’m an Aussie bride, but Fiance and I currently live in Beijing and are having a destination wedding in Bali.

I would have loved to get married in Oz – parrticularly somewhere like the Southern Highlands or a chic Melbourne city wedding. But alas, Fiance is Swiss and we have guests coming from all over the world so we picked Bali as a geographical compromise.

@mcgoo:  Where in Tassie were you thinking? Cradle Mountain is an amazing place! It would be great for a honeymoon. I’m originally from Hobart, living in Canberra and the latter is DEFINITELY colder! Tassie winter is quite pleasant, you don’t get below zero much at all ๐Ÿ™‚

As for me, living in Canberra, NEY but should be sometime this year, looking at laste next year/early year after wedding ๐Ÿ™‚

@mcgoo:

If you are honeymooning in Tassie I definitely recommend getting a hire car, so anywhere in Hobart would be a great base. I absolutely love the accomodation at MONA (an amazing and sometimes wierd modern art gallery, with an adjoining vineyard, bonus!), check out this piccie!

I would also recommend Lenna in Hobart or the Henry Jones Art House hotel, great positions for the pier and Salamanca market.

You can easily do some of the best parts of Tassie in a few days, I suggest Cradle Mountain and the East Coast, especially Wineglass Bay which you can walk to in a day or a half-day and the Bay of Fires (Binalong Bay). There are great little vineyards everywhere too, like Home Hill and Freycinet.

@alsgirl:  mid-June.

Partner is now keen on a cruise. We went on one a few yrs ago, only 3nights & unfortunately due to extreme weather, we both got crazy sea-sickness. We both said we’d eventually like to try cruising again, and now he wants to go on one for honeymoon. The one near our wedding date is out to Vanuatu & Pacific islands.

Hmmm, can’t think of anything in Hobart in mid June, but that’s a great time to be near Cradle Mountain with the snow all around ๐Ÿ™‚
