I was quoted $400 for a 100 cupcakes and a cutting cake… I thought that was quite reasonable. I have had friends pay $800 for fancy cakes!

Ours is pretty expensive, but a lot cheaper than some others I got quoted in Sydney. It’s four tiers, one extended (double), so really it’s five. It’s quite elaborate in design too, we are paying 890. From all the window shopping I did, I was happy with that price for the amount of work that goes into the cake.

Make sure delivery and set up is included!

Since our party will be casual backyard affair I’m going the route of the sponge cakes from the cheesecake shop. We looked at buying the sponge from coles, getting one custom made, me making it all myself and I’ve gotten so sick of looking at cakes! There are only 40-45 people that will probably come so it’s really not a big thing on my priority list tbh.

wow….you ladies are getting a great deal….

Ive been quoted by two places and both came in at $1300 and $1390 for a four tiered white iced fruit cake with sugar work. If I wanted 3 of those tiers in a non fruitcake flavour the price would generously drop down to   $1100!!!

hehehe…who knew a few kilos of sultanas, mixed peel and some spices could add an extra $300!!

My sisters paid around $800  for a similar cake when they got married….think I will be going back to the lady they used!!!!

My husband picked our cake. It was one square top layer made of choc mudcake, then 60 identical little mini square cakes that were either choc, caramel or white choc mudcake. Cost $1300. I almost had a heartattack but its the only thing he wanted to pick haha

@Nic01:  perth bride here…. Laughing

the places i went to have big shop fronts….I presume they have high rents and pass on the cost to the client….. unfortunately for these cake stores i will not be using their services!!!!

@CupcakeLove:  hai! Would you recommend the person who’ll be doing your cake? We live in Sydney, but getting married in Melbourne, (cause most of FI’s family lives in Melbourne and mine has to fly either way) and don’t know who in Melbourne is reputable. 🙂
