@j_jaye:  the thing that really surprised me was the wishing well thing – I’ve never been to a wedding that didn’t have one, it’s a done deal & on these boards it’s like a criminal offence! Different strokes for different folks I guess πŸ™‚

Wild weather – did any of you guys see the storms in Townsville? That’s where I am! We weren’t affected, it’s was super extreme and really focused.

@mcgoo:  The wishing well thing also makes me smile – it’s definitely more the norm here. Didn’t see Townsville, although my family used to live there, but all the wild weather lately is starting to drive me nuts – i’d love for it to settle down a little. Mind you

@jaguar: it was beautiful and sunny here today too – wasn’t stuck inside though – swimming carnival day – for some parts of the day I still wanted to be back in class with them πŸ™‚

We didn’t have a wishing well per se but most of our guests gave money!  And our canadian guests as well (I’m Canadian/Aussie citizen, my husband is australian), all gave money, but mostly because they didn’t want to travel with gifts.

I think the big difference is that people don’t take things as seriously here – maybe its just my friends but all the weddings i’ve been to (and had πŸ˜‰ have been low key affairs, more about the party than the “event”.

So many of us are teachers! Isn’t that funny? my kids are driving me nuts – year 12s in my office every freaking minute of the day!! I can’t get any other work done cause I’m too busy talking them off the ledge!

I also think that since i was so focussed on the wedding last year, i really didn’t put my whole heart into teaching – now that i’m getting back to real life, work seems ALOT harder!

Sorry about your crazy class – not sure how you deal with the little ones! I like my students as close to adulthood as possible!
