My FI and I ar possibly going to spend may-december in Austin, TX. He’s interviewed for an internship for Intel and it’s likely he’ll get one.
(We go to school in Michigans UP, and our University has a huge set up with them, we get computers from them with tutition because we’re doing this city wide wimax thing, He also works at the Intel Lab on campus, and is currently in a competititon for app development- all things are pointing to him getting an official offer)
Anyway, We’re getting married next may (in 2014) and will be planning our wedding from two different places. (We’ll be in texas, or up north, and the wedding will be downstate in our hometown)
We’re looking to get some engagement photos taken in Austin because we won’t have time after we get back. Does anyone know of some good (and affordable, college kids, remember) photographers in the Austin area? Any other information about the area that would help would be awesome too!

I met Jeff Loftin through doing a LivingSocial ad and our pictures turned out fantastic. We wanted to do 1 year anniversary photos because our engagement photos were so disappointing that we didn’t end up buying any of them. He was really easy to work with and really listened to what I wanted (especially compared to our previous experiences with our wedding photographer) – sending him a Pinterest page with some examples of poses I loved turned out to be really helpful too… I reccomend him with absolutely no hesitations and will probably be using him again in the future myself.
Here’s a link to some of our pictures that I put up on weddingbee. http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/engagementanniversary-pictures-pic-heavy

As for places to go to take pictures – I haven’t lived in Austin too long, so maybe others have some better ideas too, but we went down to the park near the Long Performing Arts center. There is also Zilker Botanical Gardens in the same area, but they charge $50 for you to use the park for pictures. If you’re looking for more urban setting pictures, the ‘Welcome to Austin’ mural is at S. 1st and Annie Streets and there are a couple more down by the UT campus near Guadalupe and 24th. There’s also a really cool fountain on the University, just south of the Tower and at that location you can see the capital building looking one direction and the Tower from the other, so its a pretty cool view.
Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about anything or want to talk, or need a friend in Austin or anything! 🙂

My sister used http://shylaurel.com/. She was a bit more expensive. I went with a much lesser known photographer w/much smaller portfolio but only charged me $50 for my bridals. Her name is Devin Pace. Let me know if you want her info.
